Salini Rehablitation Project - 2008
Since the ancient times, hundreds of salinas have operated in the Mediterranean, ninety of which still operate today. They used to be among the most important non-polluting industrial activities of the area, considering the use of salt for the preservation of food. The project strives to regenerate the site not only through the revival of the salt cultivation process but through the creation of a public recreational and educational park. Interventions incorporate a new visitors' hut, natural landscaped park, bird observatories, quays for water ferries and basic infrastructure to support all activities, including re-routing the road network linking to the various parts of the site.
